Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way? But my greatest joy of all is enjoying my beautiful children and soon to be my first grandchild in October 2020. I continue to delight in serving, guiding, and helping others. He dreamt about how beautiful it would be to stand before his Maker one day so I had to learn that when you love someone, you must accept whatever it is so that they can enjoy their greatest desire, even if it means confronting your deepest pain. With every step I took in motherhood, I became more passionate about teaching others to seize God’s opportunities for the sake of their family and generation! The sudden passing of my husband in August 2019 is still so evident in my life, I can’t talk about my story without including him. So many come to Aliento de Vida thinking that college or certain positions are unreachable dreams, but I try as often as I can to prove that God can open doors for anyone. I consider seeing my children go to the college of their dreams on full scholarships one of the greatest testimonies and opportunities when ministering other families. I never gave to others what I hadn’t first given to my children, my family is my first ministry. I was very adamant about enjoying my children and their individual stages and personalities. We learned to balance the different stages that our children were going through and the growth that the church was experiencing as well. We started gathering in a park with a few other families on Sunday mornings and twice a week I would go to the local public library to host a women’s bible study. we put all of our savings into preparing ourselves for this huge challenge. In 1999, while living off of one income and raising our three children, my husband and I dove head-first into answering God’s call to ministering others. we serving in our local church but felt God calling us to start leading others to make changes for the better of their family and generations. my husband and I never wanted our children to stop being hungry for an abundant an fruitful life, but I knew that I was never going to be able to ask of my children something that I had never dared to at least try. 32 years later, I can say the “return” on that investment has far exceeded what we imagined it to be. However, we always saw raising our children as an investment rather than a job. I was greatly criticized by some family and friends by the decision mainly because we could’ve definitely used the double income. Between my husband and I, we decided that I would stay home as a full-time homemaker to raise my children while he worked. ![]() we gave birth to our twins, Axel and Alexis.Īs our family grew, so did God’s plans for our lives. we had our first child, Javi Ordonez, and four years after that. our faith and christian community became our source of comfort and direction as we adjusted to the new culture. Arriving to Dallas we immediately found a nearby christian church. We moved with the intention to find adventure for a couple of years before returning to our regular life in Monterrey, where we had secure jobs and all of our family. My husband, Javier, and I got married in September 1986 and immediately moved to Dallas, Texas. I grew up in Monterrey Mexico as a shy middle child of eight siblings, so I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would be called to minister others, much less in Dallas, Texas.
